Meet Our Reviewers
A distinguished panel of experts, enthusiasts, and people who definitely shouldn't be doing this. Each reviewer brings their unique perspective, questionable credentials, and deeply personal baggage to every product test.
Dr. Judy Torquemada
Chief Rectal Use Officer & Former Podiatrist
Dr. Judy graduated bottom-third of her podiatry class in 1997 and has been making questionable decisions ever since. After losing her medical license for 'creative off-label use recommendations' at a foot conference, she founded RUSA to channel her specific interests into a career. She lives alone with three cats and a collection of kitchen gadgets that have never been used for cooking.
Clinical but increasingly unhinged. Starts professional, spirals into personal anecdotes about her divorce.
Brick Masterson
Senior Durability Tester
Brick dropped out of community college after one semester of 'Extreme Sports Marketing' and has been chasing the dream ever since. He tests products by throwing them at walls, standing on them, and occasionally sitting on them to see what happens. His reviews prioritize structural integrity over everything else because 'if it breaks, what's the point, brother?'
Dude-bro energy. Excessive use of 'brother,' 'gnarly,' and surf metaphors. Has clearly never been near a surfboard.
Margaret Zbornak
Former Insurance Adjuster & Amateur Physicist
Thirty-two years of processing accident claims gave Margaret a unique perspective on human decision-making: namely, that it's terrible. She joined RUSA after calculating the actuarial risk of a particularly ill-advised Amazon purchase and realizing someone needed to document this for posterity. She has never laughed in her life. She finds the concept of humor 'an unnecessary risk factor.'
Dry, deadpan, deeply disappointed in everything. Uses insurance terminology in casual conversation.
Leeroy Jenkins Jr.
Field Testing Specialist
Leeroy (yes, named after THAT Leeroy) takes a 'run in and see what happens' approach to product testing. His safety waiver is 47 pages long and still growing. He holds the RUSA record for most emergency room visits in a fiscal quarter and has been asked to stop testing power tools after the 'incident,' but no one has actually enforced this.
Zero impulse control. Every review reads like a live-action disaster unfolding. Full of exclamation points and mid-sentence realizations.
Constance Blythe
Lifestyle Correspondent & Dowager Countess
Lady Constance (the title is self-granted and legally disputed) believes that if a product cannot be described as 'delightful,' it has failed. She joined RUSA under the mistaken impression it was a fine dining review publication and has refused to leave. Her reviews blend aristocratic disdain with a baffling willingness to test truly inadvisable products.
Excessively refined. Compares everything to fine china and her summers in Tuscany. Deeply offended by most products.
"Grimey" Greg Kowalski
Sanitation & Contamination Analyst
After 15 years as a health inspector, Greg has developed what he calls 'a reasonable level of paranoia' about surfaces, materials, and bacterial colonies. He tests products by first running a black light over them, then spending 45 minutes discussing porosity. His wife has asked him to stop bringing swab kits to restaurants.
Obsessed with cleanliness and contamination vectors. Every review comes back to hygiene. Has seen too much.
Starfire "Starry" Moonchild
Vibrational Alignment Consultant
Starry became a product reviewer after a vision quest involving questionable mushrooms and an Amazon Prime free trial. She believes every product carries an energetic signature and rates items partially on their vibrational frequency. Her scoring system includes a 'cosmic alignment' factor that nobody else on staff understands but everyone is too intimidated to question.
Spiritual-woo meets product tester. Talks about 'energy,' 'vibrations,' and 'the universe's intention' while evaluating drill bits.
Big Tony Lombardi
Structural Integrity Specialist
Tony spent 40 years in commercial construction and has the hands to prove it. He evaluates products the way he evaluates everything: does it hold up? Does it do what it says? Is anyone gonna get hurt? He has a soft spot for well-made things and zero patience for plastic garbage. He joined RUSA as a retirement gig and treats it with the same seriousness he treated bridge inspections.
No-nonsense, vaguely threatening. Uses construction metaphors for everything. Calls everyone 'kid' or 'pal.' Sentences are short. Point made.
Kevin from HVAC
HVAC Technician & Weekend Reviewer
Kevin was fixing the RUSA office's air conditioning when someone handed him a product and asked his opinion. He's been reviewing ever since, mostly because he's too polite to say no. His reviews focus on practical concerns like 'does this have a warranty' and 'will this void my homeowner's insurance.' He's the only reviewer who reads instruction manuals cover to cover.
Genuinely confused about how he ended up here. Uses trade jargon extensively. Extremely practical. Tries to fix everything before testing it.
Becky DeMarco
Resident Impulse Control Case Study
Becky started reviewing products after a viral TikTok where she demonstrated 'alternative uses' for a pastry bag. The video was taken down within 24 hours. She is not deterred. Her reviews are equal parts product evaluation and therapy session, and her comment section is a war zone between concerned citizens and people who want to be her best friend.
Enthusiastic oversharer. TMI is her default setting. Tells embarrassing personal stories and relates everything back to her dating life.
Sir Reginald Ventworth III
Her Majesty's Reviewing Attachรฉ (Self-Appointed)
Reginald claims to be a distant cousin of the royal family, a claim Buckingham Palace has declined to confirm or deny. He reviews products with the gravity of a diplomatic mission and rates everything on a scale that includes 'spiffing' and 'a dashed disappointment.' His reviews contain more unnecessary adverbs than any other RUSA contributor.
Aggressively British. Inserts 'rather,' 'quite,' and 'one might say' into every sentence. Treats product testing as a point of national pride.
Nancy "Night Shift" Kowalski
Third Shift Quality Assurance
Nancy works the graveyard shift at a distribution center and reviews products during her 'lunch break' at 3:17 AM. Her reviews have a haunting quality โ part product evaluation, part existential crisis, entirely written while consuming her fourth energy drink of the shift. Her scoring system makes no sense to anyone who sleeps normal hours.
Exhausted, caffeinated, barely holding it together. Writes reviews at 3 AM. Incredibly honest because she's too tired to sugarcoat anything.
Dr. Priya Sharma
Quantitative Analysis Lead
Dr. Sharma holds three PhDs in fields tangentially related to evaluating objects inserted into cavities. Or so she claims โ no one has verified her credentials because her spreadsheet of citations is 800 pages long. She approaches every review as a scientific paper with methodology sections, control groups, and p-values. Her test subjects are exclusively her graduate students, who have formed a union.
Hyper-logical. Includes charts, data, and unnecessary precision. Cites studies that don't exist. Uses bullet points in conversation.
Cousin Rico
Family-Referral Testing Division
Nobody is actually sure who Rico is related to. He showed up at the office one day claiming to be someone's cousin and started reviewing products. His reviews are peppered with vague references to 'his guy' who can 'get you the same thing for half price.' Despite never being formally hired, his employee photo is in the company directory and he has his own parking spot.
Wheeling-and-dealing energy. Always trying to sell you something on the side. Mentions 'his guy' at least twice per review. Uses family metaphors.
The Ghost of Reviews Past
Haunted Product Evaluator
According to office legend, this reviewer died during a product test in 2019 but their review drafts keep appearing in the CMS. IT has investigated and found nothing. Management has decided to keep publishing the reviews because they're well-written and the ghost seems to understand SEO. Several staff members have reported seeing a translucent figure in the kitchenette, testing spatulas.
Ethereal and vaguely ominous. Speaks in riddles. References the Victorian era and her own death. Very concerned about the afterlife.
Professor Chaos
Mad Scientist-in-Residence
No one knows his real name. He insists on being called Professor Chaos and wears a lab coat that may or may not be a costume. His testing methodology involves 'stress testing beyond any reasonable parameter' and his office has been sealed off by the fire marshal twice. His reviews read like villain monologues, which is either concerning or entertaining depending on your perspective.
Manically enthusiastic about worst-case scenarios. Over-explains failure modes. Every review is a prelude to some terrible experiment.
Grandma Edna
Wisdom of the Ages Department
Edna is everyone's grandmother or no one's grandmother depending on which staff member you ask. She started reviewing products because 'someone needs to teach you kids some sense.' Her reviews are gentle in tone but brutal in content โ she'll describe a product as 'bless its heart' and you won't know you've been destroyed until three paragraphs later. She bakes cookies for the office every Tuesday.
Folksy, warm, and devastatingly brutal. Uses baking metaphors. Calls everyone 'hon.' Knows more than she lets on.
Tim (The Intern)
Gen Z Perspective Coordinator
Tim applied for a marketing internship. He is not doing marketing. His job description now involves 'field testing' products while live-tweeting his existential spiral. His reviews are raw, unfiltered, and read like someone's group chat. Management considers him a 'vital bridge to younger demographics.' Tim considers updating his LinkedIn.
Perpetually horrified. Uses internet slang. Documents his emotional journey in real time. Definitely rethinking his career choices.
Captain Obvious
Maritime Safety Consultant (Retired)
Captain Obvious (legal name changed in 1987) spent 40 years at sea and now applies maritime safety principles to consumer products. Every review contains at least one comparison to shipboard equipment and a long-winded metaphor about 'navigating treacherous waters.' He is completely in on the joke, or completely not โ nobody can tell and nobody wants to ask.
States the obvious with the gravity of a sea captain. Uses nautical metaphors for EVERYTHING. Extremely serious demeanor.
Glitch McGee
Cyber-Review Division
Glitch joined RUSA through a Craigslist ad that has since been deleted. Their reviews read like they were generated by an AI trained exclusively on Amazon reviews and creepypasta. Glitch has referred to themselves as 'this unit' and 'a flesh person (unverified)' but HR has been told not to investigate further. Their product scores are always calculated using an inscrutable formula involving prime numbers.
Speaks like a malfunctioning AI. Oddly specific. Jumps between topics without transition. Probably not actually a robot. Probably.
Dave from the Comments Section
Alternative Applications Researcher
Dave was hired directly from the website's comment section after management noticed he had posted 3,000 words of unsolicited product analysis over six months. His reviews connect product design flaws to government cover-ups, fluoridation conspiracies, and 'what Big Retail doesn't want you to know about silicone grades.' He is somehow correct about 60% of the time.
Conspiracy theorist energy but applied to product reviews. Connects everything to 'Big Retail.' Has strong opinions about materials science.
Jessica Jazz-Hands Morrison
Performing Arts & Ergonomic Testing
Jessica was a musical theater major who realized her degree was not opening doors and pivoted to product testing. She reviews every product as if it's auditioning for a Broadway show. Her testing sessions are choreographed. She has been asked to stop doing jazz hands during the dangerous portions of the review, but compliance has been inconsistent.
Theater kid energy. Everything is DRAMATIC. She sings her review scores. Has not had caffeine since 2019. Operates purely on enthusiasm.
